Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, are proud to announce today that Thunder alum Ken Appleby has been recalled to the NHL’s New Jersey Devils. Appleby becomes the first Thunder alum with multiple games played in Adirondack to be called up to the NHL.
Appleby, 21, appeared in 35 regular season games and 12 playoff contests with the Thunder from 2015-2016. The 6-4 netminder led the Thunder with a 17-9-2 record a season ago, in addition to a 7-5 record in post-season play as the Thunder advanced to Round 2 of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. In his career with Adirondack, Appleby has posted a 2.08 goals against average, to go along with a .926 save percentage. The North Bay, ONT native has spent the majority of this season in the AHL with the Albany Devils, where he leads the team with 16 victories.
The Thunder are back in action with three games this weekend, including a home-and-home set on Friday and Saturday with the Manchester Monarchs, including a Saturday evening home game at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
