THUNDER RETURN TO WINNING WAYS WITH 2-1 TRIUMPH IN UTAH

West Valley City, Utah – The Adirondack Thunder returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over the Utah Grizzlies on Friday evening at the Mavrik Center.

The Grizzlies opened the scoring 4:15 into the game as they pounced on a turnover in the offensive zone and put the puck past Adirondack netminder Ken Appleby for the game’s first goal. After forward Jon Puskar intercepted a pass in the high slot and fired towards Appleby, a streaking Mathieu Aubin redirected it home for his second goal of the season. Puskar collected the lone assist on the play for Utah, his fifth helper of the season.

It was Adirondack’s turn next for a quick goal as they opened the scoring in the second period as Stepan Falkovsky’s second tally of the season knotted the score at one. Forward Gunnar Hughes hit Falkovsky at the left point and the 6-7 blueliner moved in on goal, extended the play on his forehand and slotted it home for the goal. Hughes and defenseman Mathieu Brodeur picked up the assists on the play, the eleventh point of the season for Brodeur.

After the Thunder successfully killed a penalty, they took the puck the other way and converted off of a 2-on-1 rush to take their first lead of the series in Utah. James Henry led the rush into the attacking zone and hit Peter MacArthur with a perfectly weighted saucer pass, where the Thunder captain deked forehand to backhand for the goal, his third tally of the season. Henry and defenseman Alex Wall collected the assists on the play, the fifth of the season for Henry.

The Thunder conclude their stretch of eight consecutive road games as they finish off their three game series in Utah Saturday, with puck drop once again slated for 9:00 p.m. Adirondack Thunder individual and group ticket packages are available for just $13 per ticket in addition to new Thunder mini-packs, consisting of four tickets and a gift card to a local restaurant for just $65.
