Glens Falls, NY –The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, have signed goaltender Garrett Bartus. Bartus joins the Thunder following the recall of Kent Simpson to the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.
Bartus, 26, comes to the Thunder for his sixth career ECHL stop following previous appearances with Greenville, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Kalamazoo and Cincinnati. Bartus has amassed an 11-10-6 record in 30 career ECHL appearances, coupled with a 3.31 goals against average and a .899 save percentage. Bartus has also appeared in one ECHL playoff contest with Greenville in 2013. The St. Charles, IL native joins Adirondack after 32 games with the Macon Mayhem of the SPHL in 2015-16, where he leads the league in games played and saves (1015). Bartus has compiled a .929 save percentage and a 2.40 goals against average with the Mayhem this season.
Simpson, 23, has appeared in 13 games with the Thunder and has put together a 7-4-2 record, a .926 save percentage and a 2.38 goals against average. Simpson is currently tied for second in the ECHL with three shutouts and was a part of the Thunder’s record setting ECHL shutout streak of 251:51 in mid-January. The Edmonton, ALTA native has appeared in seven AHL contests with Stockton so far this season, where he has amassed a .847 save percentage and a 3.91 goals against average.
