Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder completed their back-to-back on a high note, as they downed the Greenville Swamp Rabbits by a 2-0 score on Sunday afternoon at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Goaltender Drew Fielding earned his first career win as he stopped all 32 shots he saw in his professional debut.
Adirondack opened the scoring seven minutes into the first period as forward Jeff Silengo netted the game’s first goal and his second tally in as many nights. Forward Dana Fraser created space in the offensive zone as he dumped the puck behind the Greenville net and eventually won back possession to feed a wide open Silengo for the finish. Silengo has now scored in both games played since he returned from injury last night, while Fraser collected his fourth point of the season with the assist.
Fielding stole the show during the middle portion of the game, as he turned aside every puck he saw during his professional debut. After the Burlington, ON native turned aside 13 Greenville shots in the middle frame and 10 more in the third, Mathieu Brodeur iced the game with an empty net goal from inside his own zone with just 47 seconds to play. The hulking defenseman collected a loose puck off a Swamp Rabbits turnover and fired it the length of the ice for the goal, his third of the season.
The Thunder are off until Thursday, when they travel to Brampton to play the first of two against the Beast, with the second meeting at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Friday evening. Friday’s game has a youth jersey giveaway, sponsored by Glens Falls Hospital, the annual teddy bear toss and a post-game skate with the team, also presented by Glens Falls Hospital.
