Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Flames announced today that they have signed forward Taylor Stefishen to a Professional Try Out (PTO) and goaltender Jacob Deserres to an Amateur Try Out (ATO).
Stefishen, 24, is making his second career American Hockey League appearance, after he skated in four games earlier this season with the Texas Stars. The North Vancouver, BC native collected his first career AHL point, an assist, on December 20 against Toronto. Stefishen has also recorded 40 points (16-24-40) in 54 ECHL games this season with Elmira. Previously, Stefishen skated three seasons with the University of Calgary (2011-2014), one season with the Prince George Cougars in the WHL (2010-2011) and two seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes in the NCAA (2008-2010).
This will be the second AHL stint for Deserres, with the 25-year old goaltender having signed an ATO with San Antonio from March 18 through March 23. Deserres also appeared in two games with the Colorado Eagles in the ECHL, where he turned aside 53 of 57 shots for a 1.94 goals against average and a .930 save percentage. Prior to his tenure with the Dinos, Deserres had a five year career in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds from 2005-2010, in addition to one QMJHL season with the Saint John Sea Dogs, where he won the Memorial Cup. Deserres finished his senior season in Calgary with a 2.07 goals against average (GAA) and a .920 save percentage.
Deserres posted a 2.22 goals against average and a .916 save percentage in 30 regular season games with Saint John. On his run to the 2011 Memorial Cup Championship, Deserres posted a 2.00 GAA and a .916 save percentage in 16 playoff games, highlighted by a 1.82 GAA and a .946 save percentage in three Memorial Cup Games, in addition to a tournament high three victories.
