GLENS FALLS – The Adirondack Civic Center Coalition has announced that Jeff Mead is no longer employed as president and general manager of the Harding Mazzotti Arena in Glens Falls, N.Y., nor as president of the Adirondack Thunder ECHL hockey team.
Tadd Sipowicz, chief revenue officer of the Thunder, has been appointed interim general manager of the Harding Mazzotti Arena and interim president of the Thunder. A native of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Sipowicz joined the Thunder in the 2016-17 season and had previously served as Director of Business Development. He has been instrumental in orchestrating major revenue-producing events for the team and the facility. The Arena hosts an estimated 200,000 visitors each year for hockey games and another 50,000 for other sporting and entertainment events.
“We are very pleased that Tadd is prepared to step up and take on these increased responsibilities, and we look forward to another record Adirondack Thunder season,” said Daniel T. Burke, president of the Civic Center Coalition and retired president of NBT Bank’s North Country Region.
The Thunder set a new franchise record with 20 sellout games in the 2025-26 season and averaged 4,539 fans per game—the highest average attendance in team history. They finished the 2025–26 ECHL regular season with a 37-24-10-1 record, taking third place in the North Division and returning to the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
The Thunder ‘s 2026-27 season begins with a preseason home game against the Trois-Rivières Lions on Thursday, October 8, 2026. The regular Season Opener, against the Trenton Ironhawks, is October 17, 2026. Single-game tickets go on sale on September 8, 2026. More information is available at www.echlthunder.com.
The Adirondack Civic Center Coalition is the not-for-profit organization formed by Glens Falls area professionals and business leaders to manage the facility first known as the Glens Falls Civic Center and later as the Cool Insuring Arena. The Civic Center had struggled financially for years until the Coalition brought private-sector leadership to the management of the facility in 2015. It purchased the Adirondack Thunder in 2017.
The Civic Center is now known as the Harding Mazzotti Arena. The Colonie-based law firm secured the naming rights under a multi-year agreement announced in July 2025.
