GLENS FALLS – The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils and Utica Comets, have announced that the club has named Niklas McKone as the team’s new Head Athletic Trainer.
A native of Clifton Park, New York, McKone is a graduate of Shenendehowa High School, where he graduated in 2015. He went on to attend Ithaca College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training in 2019. McKone continued his education at Clarkson University, completing a Master’s degree in Biology in 2021 while also completing an internship.
McKone brings extensive collegiate athletics experience to the Thunder. He spent three years at Union College, where he worked with the Women’s Ice Hockey and Men’s Lacrosse programs. Most recently, he spent two years at Colgate University, working with the Women’s Ice Hockey, Women’s Rowing, and Men’s Tennis teams.
“We are very excited to welcome Niklas to the Adirondack Thunder,” said Thunder Head Coach Sylvain Cloutier. “His experience working with high-level collegiate athletes, particularly in ice hockey, makes him a great addition to our organization. He brings a strong background, a great work ethic, and a commitment to taking care of our players. We’re looking forward to having him in Glens Falls.”
McKone will oversee the Thunder’s athletic training and player health operations as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
