GLENS FALLS, NY – The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, announced today that they have signed defenseman Sean Federow to a standard player contract.
Federow, 26, joins the Thunder in Florida from the SPHL’s Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs, where he posted 12 points (2g-10a) in 26 games played. Federow also collected 17 PIM and had a plus-seven rating for Roanoke.
This is the Niagara Falls, ON native’s second stint in the ECHL this week after he appeared in eight games for Toledo earlier this season. With the Walleye, Federow collected two points including his first-career ECHL goal scored.
The 6-foot-1 defenseman is playing his first professional season in North America after he skated last season with Osby IK in Sweden. Federow collected 20 points with the Swedish squad, including a team-high 11 goals from the blueline.
Prior to playing professionally, the 210-pound defender played four seasons of collegiate hockey – one at American International College before finishing his career at SUNY-Oswego. Federow’s best college season came as a junior in 2015-16 when he recorded 14 points (2g-12a) for the Lakers.
The Thunder are in Estero, FL for a trio of games this week against the Florida Everblades. The squads will face off on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. For the latest Thunder news, follow the team on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @ECHLThunder.
