THUNDER MAKE ROSTER MOVES

Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Thunder made a pair of roster moves today as goaltender Nick Riopel was recalled by the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch. Additionally, forward Eric Neiley has left the team to pursue opportunities in Europe and forward Chris Calnan has announced his retirement.

Riopel, 28, leads the Thunder with nine victories this season as he’s posted a 9-9-1 record from 19 games played, to go along with a 3.28 goals against average and a .897 save percentage. The 6-0 netminder posted his first shutout of the season last weekend as he made 44 saves in a 3-0 win over Worcester. Riopel has appeared in 21 games in the AHL throughout his career, all coming with the Adirondack Phantoms from 2009 – 2011.

Neiley, 25, has amassed 22 points (10-12-22) from 30 games played with the Thunder this season and led the team with 55 penalty minutes. Throughout his professional career, Neiley has appeared in 145 games, including seven in the AHL with the Providence Bruins. Adirondack will retain Neiley’s ECHL rights.

Calnan, 23, collected a goal and an assist from five games played with the Thunder this season after he was assigned to Adirondack from the AHL’s Binghamton Devils in October. Before he began his professional career, Calnan spent the past four seasons at Boston College where he recorded 56 points (24-32-56) in 142 games played.

The Thunder are back in action this weekend as they take on the Reading Royals in a home-and-home set, including tomorrow evening at Cool Insuring Arena. Tickets are 2 for $20.18 for Sunday’s 5:00 p.m. puck drop and are available by visiting ECHLThunder.com/nye or by visiting the Thunder offices.
