Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, announced today that they have acquired forward Ben Murphy from the Norfolk Admirals in exchange for defenseman Ryan Segalla.
Murphy, 26, is currently in the midst of his second full professional season. The Duxbury, MA native has collected two points (1-1-2) from nine games with Norfolk this season and has appeared in 84 ECHL games during his career. The 6-0 winger has amassed 41 points (21-20-41) with Norfolk and Tulsa, including 25 points (11-14-25) from 49 games last season with the Admirals. Prior to beginning his professional career, Murphy was collegiate teammates with Thunder forward Pierre-Luc Mercier at Bowling Green University, where he collected 67 points (34-33-67) from 145 games played.
The Thunder are back in action this evening as they continue their 12-game road trip in Michigan against the Kalamazoo Wings.
