Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, announced today that defenseman Mathieu Brodeur has rejoined the team after he was released from his professional try out with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds.
Brodeur, 27, returns to the Thunder after he originally signed a standard player contract on September 21. Brodeur signed a PTO with Springfield in early October and collected one assist in seven games with the team during the 2017-18 season.
The 6-6 defenseman appeared in 15 games with the Thunder a season ago and collected 19 points (4-15-19) before he earned an American Hockey League contract with the Syracuse Crunch in November. Brodeur collected 13 points (3-10-13) in 56 regular season contests with Syracuse and also appeared in all 22 of the team’s Calder Cup playoff games as the Crunch finished as Eastern Conference Champions. Brodeur picked up four playoff points (1-3-4), including the game-winning goal in Game 5 of the Calder Cup Finals against Grand Rapids.
The Thunder are back in action this evening as they continue a 12-game road trip in Indiana against the Fort Wayne Komets.
