Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, have announced their promotional schedule for the 2016-17 season.
The Thunder’s 2016-17 home schedule, which consists of 36 home games, will begin on Saturday, October 22, as the Thunder take on the Manchester Monarchs at the Glens Falls Civic Center at 7:00 p.m. Opening Night will feature a magnet schedule giveaway as well as a party on the plaza outside of the Glens Falls Civic Center to kick off the Thunder’s second season.
The season will feature additional giveaways, including a 35th Anniversary Poster, presented by Glens Falls Printing (November 26), a Youth Jersey, presented by Glens Falls Hospital (December 3), Pink Pom-Poms, presented by Glens Falls Hospital (February 4) and a Thunder Team Poster, presented by Glens Falls Printing (February 25).
Fidelis Care will be sponsoring an additional seven giveaways as a part of the “Fidelis Care Fridays” series, which also features kids in free with the purchase of an adult ticket. The giveaways will take place at each of the Thunder’s seven Friday Night home games during the 2016-17 season, beginning on Friday December 2. “Our giveaway schedule is the strongest we’ve presented to our fans in our three seasons in Glens Falls,” Adirondack Thunder President Brian Petrovek said. “By adding new items, as well as our Friday Night series presented by Fidelis Care and our Tuesday Night series, presented by Great Meadow Federal Credit Union, we feel we have improved our variety and quantity that fans will want to receive. We’re grateful to our loyal sponsors and corporate partners for making our promotional program our best ever.”
The Thunder schedule is highlighted by 13 Saturday Night Games, including the annual New Year’s Eve Game on December 31 with a special 5:30 p.m. start time as the Thunder host Reading. The New Year’s Eve game will include post-game fireworks as well as 2017 items given away at the door and an after party in Heritage Hall. All tickets to the New Year’s Eve game will be available through pre-sale at a special two tickets for $20.17 price to celebrate the New Year.
Other highlighted Saturday Night games include Stored Tech Night featuring an iPad Giveaway (10/29), 35th Anniversary Night, presented by Ramada Inn (11/26), Faith & Family Night, presented by Word of Life (1/28), Hall of Fame Induction Night (2/25), Fireman Appreciation Night (3/18) and Fan Appreciation Night (4/1).
The Thunder will wear four specialty jerseys during their inaugural season, beginning with 35th Anniversary Night on Saturday, November 26 as the Thunder host Florida. As a part of celebrating 35 years of Adirondack Hockey, the Thunder will wear a jersey that features the logos of all six teams that have called Glens Falls home. The Thunder will also wear the jersey on Saturday, April 1 and will auction the jerseys off live after the game.
The Thunder will once again host Military Appreciation Night, presented by U.A. Local 773 on Saturday, December 3, 2016 as the Thunder take on Manchester. The game will feature a live post-game auction with all proceeds benefitting Wounded Warriors. The Thunder will also hold Pink in the Rink, presented by Glens Falls Hospital, on Saturday, February 4 against Norfolk, with all proceeds being donated to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center. Over the past two seasons, these two promotions have raised over $45,000 in donations. The final themed jersey of the season will be held on Saturday, March 11 against Manchester as the Thunder hold Police Officer Appreciation Night. The jersey, sponsored by local sheriff’s offices, will be auctioned off post game with proceeds donated to Special Olympics New York.
“We’ve added two new jerseys to our wardrobe for this season to highlight the 35th Anniversary of Adirondack hockey and to support law enforcement officers in our area,” Adirondack Thunder President Brian Petrovek said. “Including our primary red and white jerseys, our players will play in six different jerseys on home ice during the regular season as well as a special Thunder jersey during the 2017 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic.”
Post-game skates and meet and greets with the team, sponsored by Glens Falls Hospital, will also see a return to the Civic Center on Saturday, December 17, Sunday, February 12 and Sunday, March 12. The events on December 17 and March 12 will be post-game skates, while the event on February 12 will be a post-game autograph session.
Donation opportunities will once again be present throughout the 2016-17 season, beginning with the November Coat Drive, which will take place at home games on November 22, 26 and 29. All coats collected will be donated to local organizations by the Thunder through the Tri-County United Way. The Thunder will hold their annual canned food drive on Saturday, December 3 to benefit the Open Door Mission. Anyone who donates a coat at any of the November dates listed above or a non-perishable food item at the game on December 3 will receive a free Silver Flex ticket, courtesy of the Thunder.
