Toledo, OH - The Adirondack Thunder got back to winning ways as Ken Appleby notched his first professional shutout in a 1-0 victory over the Toledo Walleye.
Adirondack got the scoring started for the second straight game, with Mitchell Heard getting the game’s lone goal in the first period to open up a 1-0 lead for the Thunder. With Adirondack on a power play, Heard took a feed from teammate Ryan Constant, skated into the right hand circle and put a wrist shot past Toledo netminder Jeff Lerg. The goal was the third of the season for Heard and Constant extended his point streak to six games with the assist.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second and third periods, as Appleby shined bright with 31 saves. Jeff Lerg turned aside 15 Adirondack shots in defeat. The Thunder now return home to practice after tonight’s game but will hit the road again next weekend for games against Atlanta and Greenville.
