RIVIERE-DU-LOUP – The Trois-Rivieres Lions defeated the Adirondack Thunder, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon inside Centre Premier Tech in Riviere-du-Loup.
The Lions took an early 1-0 lead as Mathieu Bizier tipped in a shot from Jake Gravelle for his first of the preseason. The goal came just 1:33 into the game with assists from Gravelle and Alexander Legkov and Trois-Rivieres took that lead into the first intermission.
Isaac Dufort gave Trois-Rivieres a 2-0 lead 5:09 into the second period as he beat Thunder goaltender Seth Eisele trailing the play with a wrist shot. Assists on Dufort’s first of the preseason were credited to Stephane Huard and Christopher Innis.
Trois-Rivieres scored back-to-back power-play goals to give the Lions a four-goal lead. Mathias Laferriere’s power-play goal came at 15:32 of the second, and Mathieu Bizier added to the lead at 17:36 to give the Lions a 4-0 lead after two periods.
The 4-0 lead after two periods held up for the Lions. Seth Eisele stopped 15 of 19 and Henry Welsch denied all five shots he faced in the third period.
