Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Flames today announced their plans for Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by UA Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 773. The Flames also unveiled the special, “Snow Camo” jerseys that the team will wear during the game. Military Appreciation Night is this Saturday, November 22, at 7:00 p.m. at the Civic Center as the Flames take on the Rochester Americans.
The Flames “Snow Camo” jerseys are the first of two themed jerseys the team will wear this season. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game with all proceeds going to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. All fans will be asked to gather in sections B and C after the final buzzer. The jerseys will be auctioned off live, one-by-one, from ice level and the winners will receive their jersey, along with an autograph and photo with the player if they choose.
“The Flames are pleased and proud to be able to contribute to an organization as well regarded as the Wounded Warriors and are grateful for the generosity of our sponsor tonight, UA Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 773,” Adirondack Flames President Brian Petrovek said. “Our players are looking forward to their participation.”
Military Appreciation Night will recognize several veterans from the local community from a variety of different branches of service. Scott Martel, Business Manager of Steamfitters and Pipefitters 773 and Larry Bulman, International Representative of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States, Canada and Australia, will drop the ceremonial first puck. The Glens Falls VFW will also be in attendance with a color guard during the national anthem.
“The United Association and our affiliate, Plumbers and Pipefitters 773, are proud to join with the Adirondack Flames to sponsor Military Appreciation Night,” Bulman said. “We are hopeful this evening can raise awareness for our VIP program and we wanted to join with the Flames to support the active and veteran military members in the Adirondack community.”
Navy Federal Credit Union, the SUNY Adirondack Veterans and the Air Force will have a presence at the game in the lobby. All Military members are entitled to discounted $15 tickets to the game and the Flames will be honoring all veterans with a salute during the game.
The Flames will also honor Chief Warrant Officer Bill Huestis, of Ticonderoga, NY, as the United Association VIP Hero of the Game. Huestis served for over 20 years in the US Army as a Special Forces operator, instructor, senior advisor and commander. His deployments included stints in Italy, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq amongst others. His awards and decorations include the Special Forces and Airborne tab, Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman’s Badge. Huestis is currently in his first year apprentice working at Global Foundries in Malta, NY through the United Association VIP Program.
