Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Flames announced today that they have signed defenseman Nolan Yonkman to an AHL contract. The Flames also released forwards Alex Belzile, Mario Lamoureux, Tyler Spurgeon and Taylor Vause, as well as defenseman Curtis Gedig, from their AHL tryout agreements.
Yonkman, 33, attended training camp with the Calgary Flames before he was released on Oct. 1. The Punnichy, SASK native is a veteran of 76 NHL and 665 AHL contests, spread over nine different teams. Yonkman has recorded 10 career NHL points (1-9-10) and 86 career AHL points (18-68-86). The 6’6” defenseman spent last season in the Anaheim Ducks organization, split between the Ducks and the Norfolk Admirals.
The Flames continue practice tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. as the team is in preparation for their 2014-15 season opener on Friday, October 10th against the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena. The Flames return home the following evening to host the Albany Devils at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Both games are set to begin at 7:00 p.m. Adirondack currently has 27 players remaining on its roster (three goaltenders, nine defensemen and 15 forwards).
