How Professional Sports Boosts New York's Economy
Marty Appel, one of the Nation’s leading baseball historians and the former public relations director of the New York Yankees led a discussion of how professional sports can boost New York’s economy on Friday, September 19, at our Annual Meeting at The Sagamore Resort.
Joining Appel was Michael Britt, Vice President of Government Affairs for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Rick Murphy, General Manager of the Tri-City ValleyCats baseball team, Brian Petrovek, President of the Adirondack Flames hockey team and Michael Printup, President of Watkins Glen International, the State’s premier motor racing site.

The Business Counsil also held a Sports Memorabilia Silent Auction during the Annual Meeting. Those in attendance had the opportunity to bid on authentic autographed memorabilia from some of the greatest moments in sports! Whether you are a baseball, basketball, football, hockey, or boxing fan, there was something for everyone, including Jeter, Rivera, Ewing, Nicklaus and more.
