JOSH JACOBS BECOMES SIXTH THUNDER ALUM TO MAKE NHL DEBUT

GLENS FALLS, NY – Defenseman Josh Jacobs became the sixth Adirondack Thunder alum to play in a National Hockey League game when he was in the lineup for the New Jersey Devils yesterday evening when they took on the Boston Bruins. Jacobs joins Scott Wedgewood, Ken Appleby, Ryan Lomberg, MacKenzie Blackwood and Colton White as former Thunder players to make their NHL debuts.

Jacobs, 23, earned his first career NHL recall this week after some injuries in the Devils lineup. The 205-pound defenseman collected his first shot on net in the Devils’ loss to Boston. 

The native of Shelby Township, MI appeared in one game for the Adirondack Thunder during the 2016-2017 season, when he laced the skates up for a game against the Brampton Beast. Jacobs did not hit the scoresheet but was a plus-two in his only ECHL game played.

This season, the former 2nd round pick of the Devils was a mainstay in the AHL’s Binghamton Devils lineup. Through 60 games played, Jacobs picked up 12 points (3g-9a) and 40 PIM. The 6-foot-2 blueliner has skated in 165 career American League games, totaling 37 points (4g-33a), 105 PIM and a minus-six rating.

The Thunder hit the road for a pair of games this weekend against the Brampton Beast. The Thunder will be in Ontario for puck drops at 7:15 p.m. Saturday evening before a 2:00 p.m. Sunday matinee against Brampton. For the latest Thunder news, follow the team on all social media @ECHLThunder.
