Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, announced today that it has signed defenseman Michael Sdao to a contract for the 2018-2019 season.
Sdao, 29, comes to Glens Falls after having skated last season with the Rapid City Rush, where he recorded 85 PIM from 30 games played. The 6-foot-4 defenseman also has experience in the league with Colorado during the 2016-2017 season. While skating with the Eagles, Sdao posted professional career highs with 13 points (9g-4a) and 177 PIM, while winning a Kelly Cup championship.
The Bloomington, MN native broke into pro hockey with the AHL’s Binghamton Senators after being selected by the Ottawa Senators in the 7th round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. In parts of four seasons in Binghamton, Sdao notched 18 points (9g-9a) and 306 PIM. He has since seen action with the Rochester Americans and Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League.
Prior to playing professionally, Sdao skated four seasons at Princeton University in New Jersey. With the Tigers, Sdao posted 54 points (26g-28a) from 118 games played while leading all blueliners in scoring during his junior and senior seasons. Additionally, Sdao accumulated 236 PIM over the course of his four-year collegiate career.
