Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, announced today that it has signed forward Peter MacArthur to a standard player contract for the 2018-2019 season.
MacArthur, 33, was the leading Thunder scorer during the 2016-2017 campaign as he registered 63 points (24-39-63) in 63 games played. The Clifton Park, NY native debuted for Adirondack the season before in December 2015 and finished his first year as a Thunder player with 36 points (8-28-36) from 46 games played.
“We are very excited to announce we are bringing Peter back to the Thunder,” General Manager Jeff Mead said. “We know the qualities he possesses not only on the ice, but in the locker room and in our community as well. He was a great leader and a big part of the Thunder’s previous successes and we expect that to continue this season.”
MacArthur returns to Adirondack after having played last season for the Allen Americans. He played in 22 games, recording 13 points (5-8-13) before an injury cut his season short.
Prior to his first run with the Thunder, the 33-year old played in parts of four seasons in Europe as he skated with teams in Germany and Austria from 2012-2015. Before his time overseas, MacArthur collected 86 points (29-57-86) in 190 AHL games with Bridgeport, Rockford, San Antonio, Peoria and Lake Erie, in addition to 52 points (18-34-52) in 41 ECHL games with Fresno and Las Vegas.
