Glens Falls, NY – Forward Ryan Lomberg became the third Adirondack Thunder alum to play in an NHL game as he made his NHL debut this evening with the Calgary Flames against the Edmonton Oilers. Lomberg also becomes the first skater to reach the NHL and joins goaltenders Ken Appleby and Scott Wedgewood as Thunder alums to play at the highest level.
Lomberg, 23, earned his second career NHL recall this afternoon after he signed an entry level contract with the Flames in March 2017. Lomberg collected 35 points (18-17-35) in 43 regular season games with the Thunder during the 2015-16 season and set the franchise record for goals in a game with four in March 2016. Lomberg also appeared in all 12 Kelly Cup Playoff contests with the Thunder as the team advanced to Round 2 of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Richmond Hill, ONT native has also appeared in 119 career games with the AHL’s Stockton Heat, where he’s amassed 46 points (18-28-46).
