Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Thunder took down the Brampton Beast by a 2-1 final as goaltender Drew Fielding won for the fifth straight game on Saturday evening at Cool Insuring Arena.
Fielding made 29 saves in the victory as he moved to 7-2 on the season. Forwards Shane Conacher and Andrew Radjenovic collected the goals for Adirondack on the evening, Adirondack’s fourth straight game with a point.
The Thunder opened the scoring just 22 seconds into the game as Conacher scored his eighth goal of the season. Conacher took a feed from forward Ty Loney at close range and slotted his shot past Brampton netminder Andrew D’Agostini to extend his scoring streak to three games. Loney collected the lone assist on the play, his team-leading 31st point of the season.
After nearly 40 minutes of scoreless hockey, Brampton tied the game at one with 66 seconds remaining in the second period. Defenseman Matt Petgrave sent the puck in the direction of the Adirondack net, where forward David Vallorani one-timed it on the way as he sent it past Fielding for his fourth goal of the season. Petgrave and forward Brandon MacLean collected the assists on the play, MacLean’s tenth helper of the season.
The Thunder pulled ahead for good 3:45 into the third period as Radjenovic scored in his second game back from injury to put the hosts on top 2-1. After James Henry fed defenseman Evan Neugold on the left wing, the rookie blueliner sent a feed across the ice to Radjenovic, who redirected it past D’Agostini for the game-winning goal. Neugold and Henry collected the assists on the play, Neugold’s first career professional point.
