THUNDER FALL 5-1 IN WORCESTER

Worcester, MA –The Adirondack Thunder concluded a three-game set against the Worcester Railers on Saturday evening with a 5-1 defeat on Saturday evening at the DCU Center.

The Railers opened the scoring late in the first period as defenseman Patrick McNally fired a shot through traffic for his third goal in two games against the Thunder. The Worcester blueliner took a pass from forward Frankie DiChiara, circled around to the center of the ice at the point and found the back of the net with a wrist shot through traffic for his ninth goal of the season. DiChiara picked up the lone helper on the play, his fourth of the season.

The hosts doubled their advantage midway through the second period as Woody Hudson picked up his fifth tally of the season. Worcester entered the offensive zone on a 2-on-1 rush, where Hudson took a feed from teammate Jeff Kubiakand fired a shot that hit the stick of the Adirondack defenseman and deflected past Riopel for the goal. Hudson's goal was his fifth of the season as Kubiak and DiChiara picked up the assists on the play.

Worcester opened up a four-goal advantage late in the middle stanza as Chris Langkow and McNally scored less than two minutes apart for the Railers. First, at the 14:33 mark of the second period, a pass from defenseman Mike Cornell skipped over a pair of Adirondack sticks and right to Langkow, who slid it home at the back post for the goal. With 3:54 left in the second, McNally picked up his second tally of the evening as he moved down the middle of the ice and beat Riopel with a wrist shot from the high slot. DiChiara picked up the lone assist on the play, his third of the evening.

Adirondack got on the board just 68 seconds into the third period as defenseman Desmond Bergin scored from the point for the first Thunder goal of the evening. Forward Brian Ward won the puck deep in the offensive zone and fed Bergin at the left point, where he walked towards the middle of the ice and fired past Worcester netminder Eamon McAdam for his fifth goal of the season. Ward collected the lone helper on the play, his ninth of the season.

The Railers iced the game late with a shorthanded goal from Langkow, his second tally of the evening.

Adirondack concludes the weekend tomorrow afternoon as it visits the Reading Royals for a 4:00 p.m. puck drop at Santander Arena. The Thunder are home for a pair of games next week, beginning on Wednesday evening against Manchester.
