QUAD GOALS LEAD THUNDER PAST QUAD CITY

Moline, IL – The Adirondack Thunder returned to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over the Quad City Mallards on Wednesday evening at the TaxSlayer Center.

Adirondack opened the scoring 6:56 into the game as forward Terrence Wallin collected his fourth goal of the season. Defenseman Conor Riley fired a shot towards the net, which was stopped by Quad City netminder Ivan Kulbakov, but Wallin crashed the net and buried the rebound at the back post for the game's first goal. Riley and forward Paul Rodrigues collected the assists on the play, the first point of the season for Riley.

The Thunder doubled their advantage 1:51 from the end of the period as Eric Neiley finished off a crisp passing play for his fifth goal of the season. After center Pierre-Luc Mercier created a turnover in the offensive zone, he fed forward James Henry who quickly one-touched the puck to Neiley, who converted for the goal. Mercier and Henry collected the assists on the play, Mercier’s team-leading eighth helper of the season.

Quad City pulled back within a goal 4:03 into the second period as they scored the first shorthanded goal against the Thunder this season. Mallards' forward Brayden Low stole the puck at the point, skated in along down the right wing and went backhand-to-forehand to beat Adirondack netminder Nick Riopel through the five hole for the goal, his first of the season. The tally was recorded as unassisted.

The visitors would bounce right back, however, as Thunder forward Ty Loney fired home his fifth goal of the season to regain his team's two-goal advantage. After a shot from the point by defenseman Kevin Lough was blocked on its way to the net, the puck fell to Loney in the slot where he beat Kulbakov for the goal. Lough and forward Shane Conacher collected the assists on the play, the fifth assist of the season for Conacher.

With just nine seconds remaining, forward James Henry iced the game with a shorthanded empty-net goal his fourth tally of the season and second point of the evening.

Adirondack now travels to Kalamazoo as it begins a three-in-three set this weekend, starting on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. Friday’s game is the first Thunder watch party of the season with the game being shown at Uno Pizzeria Grill in Queensbury. The Thunder are next home on Saturday, November 25 at 7:00 p.m., which begins a seven-game homestand at Cool Insuring Arena.
