THUNDER ADVANCE POINT STREAK TO SEVEN GAMES WITH 3-2 WIN OVER ELMIRA

Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Thunder advanced their point streak to seven games as they downed the Elmira Jackals 3-2 on Friday evening at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Adirondack struck first just shy of nine minutes into the game as forward Brian Ward tallied his 24th goal of the season to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead. From the face-off circle in the attacking zone, JC Campagna sent a cross-ice pass to Ward, who cut to the front of the net and pulled a forehand-to-backhand move on Elmira netminder Jason Kasdorf and finished top shelf for the goal. The tally for Ward extended his scoring streak to 11 games, the longest in Thunder franchise history. Campagna and Kevin Lough collected assists on the goal, Campagna’s fifth and Lough’s 14th of the season.

Adirondack doubled its advantage early in the second period as Thunder captain Peter MacArthur collected his 22nd goal of the season. After MacArthur's first bid was blocked down in front, the ricochet fell to a driving MacArthur at the back post and he slid the puck past Kasdorf for the goal. Forward Brock Montgomery collected the lone assist on the play, his 10th of the season.

With 6:21 left in the second period, Elmira cut the Thunder lead in half with a power-play goal scored by Davis Vandane, his ninth of the season. The Jackals worked the puck around the top of the point where Matt Stanisz linked up with Vandane at the top of the circle for a one-timed slap shot that snuck past the glove of Adirondack netminder J.P. Anderson. Stanisz and Sebastien Sylvestre tallied the helpers on the goal, Sylvestre’s team-leading 30th of the season.

With less than 12 minutes to play in regulation, MacArthur scored his second of the night to set the franchise record with 61 points in a single season. Cullen Bradshaw took a lead pass from Montgomery and, on a two-on-one rush, fed MacArthur through the slot, where the Thunder captain finished with a wrist shot beneath the glove of Kasdorf for the 3-1 advantage. Bradshaw and Montgomery were awarded the assists on the goal, Montgomery’s second of the evening.

Elmira made it a one-goal game for the third time on the evening as Stanisz collected his seventh goal of the season and his second point of the game to close out the scoring for the night. Jackals’ forward Perry D’Arrisso sent a cross-ice pass diagonally from the corner towards Stanisz, who teed up at the top of the left-hand circle and buried a shot on the far side of the net for the goal. D’Arrisso and forward Reed Seckel notched assists on the point, D’Arrisso’s first assist as a professional.

Adirondack increases its North Division lead to three points as it moves to 37-20-7-4 on the season, good for 85 points in the standings. The Thunder clinched a 2017 Kelly Cup Playoff berth on Tuesday in a 5-4 win over Orlando.
