Manchester, NH – The Adirondack Thunder, backed by a 29-save shutout from goaltender Mason McDonald, earned a 5-0 victory over the Manchester Monarchs on Friday evening at SNHU Arena.

Adirondack opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game as they converted on the man advantage to take a 1-0 lead. With the puck in the corner, forward James Henry fed a pass to Brock Montgomery in front of the net, where the 6-3 winger went to his backhand to beat Manchester goaltender Jack Flinn. The goal for Montgomery was his sixth of the season while Henry and Peter MacArthur collected the assists on the play, the 23rd of the season for Henry.

The Thunder doubled their advantage midway through the second period as Gunnar Hughes scored at the 13:42 mark of the middle stanza. Positioned at the point, defenseman Patch Alber fired a shot on goal, which was turned aside by Flinn, but Hughes collected the reboudn in front and slotted it home for his ninth goal of the season. Alber and forward J.C. Campagna collected the helpers on the play, Campagna’s first career professional assist.

The visitors doubled their advantage yet again in a span of just 13 seconds with a pair of goals late in the third period. First,

Manchester turned the puck over in its own slot where Thunder forward Peter MacArthur one-timed the loose puck past Flinn and into the back of the net for his 17th goal of the season. It took Adirondack little time to strike again as Dennis Kravchenko intercepted a pass behind the Manchester net and fed a pass in front to Henry, who buried it for his 16th goal of the season.

Adirondack added a fifth less than four minutes from the end of the game as Brian Ward scored in his first game back from injury since early February. MacArthur fired the puck towards the back post to Ward, who tapped it past Flinn for his 17th goal of the season. MacArthur and defensemean Kevin Lough collected the assists on the play as MacArthur picked up his third point of the evening.
