THUNDER WINNING STREAK ENDS AT SIX AFTER 3-2 LOSS IN MANCHESTER

Manchester, NH – The Adirondack Thunder saw their winning streak end at six as they fell 3-2 to the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday evening at SNHU Arena.

Manchester skated out to an early 2-0 advantage in the game’s first 2:15 with a pair of goals just 34 seconds apart. First, at the 1:41 mark of the opening period, a tough bounce behind the net saw the puck skip out in front of Adirondack netminder Mason McDonald, where Manchester forward Zac Lynch was on hand to slam it home into the gaping Adirondack net to open the scoring. Just 34 seconds later, Manchester struck again as Gasper Kopitar buried a cross-ice feed from Teddy Doherty at the back post to give his team a 2-0 lead. Doherty and Daniel Doremus collected the assists on the play, the 32nd of the season for Doremus.

The Thunder cut their deficit to one goal 7:12 into the second period as Stepan Falkovsky remained hot with his 13th goal of the season. Forwards Mikkel Aagaard and Cullen Bradshaw worked the puck free in the corner of the attacking zone and Aagaard fed a pass out to Falkovsky in the right-hand circle, where the 6-7 defenseman fired a wrist shot into the back of the net to get Adirondack on the board. Aagaard and Bradshaw collected the helpers on the play, Aagaard’s 24th of the season.

The hosts regained their two-goal advantage less than two minutes later, however, as Manchester capitalized on a power play. With the puck at the right point, defenseman Thomas Schemitsch fed a cross-ice pass to Doremus, who one-timed it home from the bottom of the left-hand circle. Schemitsch and forward Kevin Morris collected the assists on Doremus’ eighth goal of the season, the 13th helper of the season for Morris.

Just 33 seconds later, however, the Thunder moved back to within a goal as defenseman Conor Riley scored his second goal of the season to bring the score to 3-2. With the puck in the right corner, Bradshaw fed Riley streaking through the slot, where the Massena, NY native sent a backhanded shot past Manchester netminder Sam Brittain. Bradshaw and forward Greg Wolfe collected the assists on the play, extending Wolfe’s scoring streak to seven games.

With the loss, Adirondack falls to 25-14-4-3 on the season and remain in third place in the Northern Division, two points behind the second place Reading Royals.

The Thunder and Monarchs are back at it again tomorrow afternoon at the Glens Falls Civic Center with puck drop slated for 3:00 p.m. Adirondack Thunder individual and group ticket packages are also available for just $13 per ticket in addition to new Thunder mini-packs, consisting of four tickets and a gift card to a local restaurant for just $65.
