TONIGHT’S MATCHUP: The Thunder begin a four-game road trip tomorrow morning as they visit the Brampton Beast for a North Division showdown. Adirondack and Brampton met last Saturday at the Glens Falls Civic Center with the Thunder earning a 4-3 shootout victory in front of a franchise record 5,135 fans.
FALK OUT BOY: Rookie defenseman Stepan Falkovsky scored the first hat trick of his professional career in Saturday’s win over Brampton. The 6-7 defenseman also scored the game-winning goal in the shootout to clinch the 4-3 victory. Falkovsky reached the 20-goal plateau with the hat trick as he became the first ECHL defenseman since the 2011-12 season to score 20 goals in a season.
WALL-E: Adirondack received reinforcements on the blueline, after skating with just five defenseman on Saturday, as defenseman Alex Wall was returned to the team off of a PTO with the Utica Comets. Wall leads all Thunder skaters with 30 assists and all defensemen with 34 points. The 5-11 blueliner ranks tied for sixth in the ECHL in assists from defensemen and fourth among first-year blueliners.
THE LION’S DEN-NIS: Adirondack forward Dennis Kravchenko collected five points in two games over the weekend, giving him multiple points in four of his last five games, his eighth and ninth multi-point efforts of the season. With the five-point weekend, Kravchenko has returned to a point-per-game pace with 28 points (13-15-28) from 28 games played in his rookie season.
TOM TOM: Goaltender Tom McCollum was reassigned to the Stockton Heat on Sunday after he posted a pair of wins over the weekend with the Thunder. McCollum turned aside 56 of 61 shots in wins over Reading and Brampton as he posted a 2.40 goals against average and a .918 save percentage on the weekend and improved his record to 3-1-1 with Adirondack this season.
FIRST GOAL FLOW: The Adirondack Thunder continued their dominance when scoring the game’s first goal as they improved to 22-1-5 when scoring first after Saturday’s win over Brampton. When leading through 20 minutes this season, the Thunder are 21-0-2 and when leading after two periods, the Thunder are 19-0-1-1. Under Cail MacLean in franchise history, Adirondack is now 51-1-4 when leading after 40 minutes of play.
POWER PLAY OFF: Coming off of a three-goal effort on Saturday, the Thunder now lead the Eastern Conference on the power play at 23.7% on the season. Adirondack, which also ranks third in the ECHL on the man advantage, has now scored multiple power-play goals 14 times this season.
