MACARTHURS HAT TRICK POWERS THUNDER PAST JACKALS

Glens Falls, NY - A natural hat trick from Adirondack Thunder forward Peter MacArthur powered the Thunder to a convincing 5-1 victory over the Elmira Jackals on Tuesday evening at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Adirondack opened the scoring with a pair of goals from MacArthur, who was the first to get on the board at 5:55. With the Thunder captain positioned behind the net, he sent a pass towards Ty Loney in front, but the pass deflected off of the skate of an Elmira defenseman and ended up in the net. Loney and forward Mikkel Aagaard were awarded the assists on the goal, Loney’s 16th helper of the season. MacArthur struck again just under seven minutes later, as he finished a play at the back post for his 11th goal of the season. Adirondack defenseman Connor Riley fired a one timer that rebounded off of Elmira netminder Jason Kasdorf, directly to the stick of MacArthur, who tapped in for the goal. Riley and Roman Dyukov notched assists on the play, Dyukov’s sixth helper of the season.

MacArthur completed his hat trick with his third goal of the game just 1:39 into the second period. The Clifton Park native took a feed from teammate Mikkel Aagaard and moved in on the Elmira net. The veteran forward then used a spin-o-rama move and finished for the goal on his backhand, his 12th of the season. MacArthur's hat trick, a natural hat trick, was the first of his ECHL career, while Aagaard and Loney collected the assists.

The Thunder extended their lead to four on the man advantage at the 11:46 mark with a goal from Loney, his team-leading 15th of the season. From the blue line, defenseman Patch Alber wired a wrist shot on net, where Loney was providing a screen. The puck deflected off of Loney and past Kasdorf for the Thunder’s fourth goal of the evening. Alber and Aagaard recorded assists on the play, Aagaard’s third point of the evening.

After fifty-one scoreless minutes from the Jackals, forward Kenton Miller ended J.P. Anderson’s shutout bid as he found the back of the net for his tenth goal of the season. Forward Kyle Rankin connected with Miller in the slot, and Miller placed a wrist shot over Anderson’s blocker. Rankin was awarded the lone assist on the play, his tenth of the season. Just 1:34 later, however, Adirondack regained the four-goal lead with a goal from defenseman Roman Dyukov, his second of the season. Brett Pollock fired a cross-ice pass through the slot to fellow rookie, Nick Bligh. Bligh was able to put the initial shot on goal that rebounded to for the one-timer that rocketed past the Elmira goaltender. Bligh and Pollock tallied assists on the goal, Bligh’s third straight game with a point.

The Thunder return to action on Friday as they host the Manchester Monarchs on Friday evening at the Civic Center.
