PRINCETON, N.J. – Michael Kirkpatrick of the Adirondack Thunder is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for April 4-9.
Kirkpatrick scored three goals and added three assists for six points in three games last week.
The 25-year-old scored two goals in a 6-4 loss to Elmira on Tuesday, picked up a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win at Manchester on Friday and had a pair of assists in a 5-4 loss to Manchester on Saturday.
A native of North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Kirkpatrick led ECHL rookies, and was tied for third overall in the league with 29 goals, and was second among first-year players with 60 points.
Kirkpatrick spent the previous four seasons at St. Francis Xavier University where he had 102 points (39g-63a) in 108 games. Prior to that, he recorded 251 points (108g-143a) in 266 career QMJHL games with Saint John.
On behalf of Michael Kirkpatrick, a case of pucks will be donated to an Adirondack youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 33,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
