ALBANY, NY – Goaltender Ken Appleby has been reassigned to Adirondack by Albany. In addition, Scott Wedgewood has been reassigned to Albany by New Jersey (NHL) after he appeared in one game with the Adirondack Thunder.
Appleby, 20, signed with New Jersey out of training camp. He has spent the previous three seasons with Oshawa (OHL), where he helped lead the Generals to the 2015 Ontario Hockey League and Memorial Cup Championships. In 2014-15, he led the league with a 2.08 goals-against average, .924 save percentage, and six shutouts (tie), and was second with 38 wins. During the OHL Playoffs, Appleby posted a 16-5 mark, with two shutouts and a 2.24 goals-against average.
Appleby is tied for the ECHL lead with 10 wins, going 10-2-1 in 13 outings. He has posted a 1.83 goals-against average and a .937 save percentage.
Wedgewood, 23, is in his fourth professional season and hasn’t played a game in the ECHL since 2012-13 when he logged 48 games with Trenton. The Devils netminder, who was selected 84th overall during the 2010 NHL Draft, has appeared in 77 career AHL games, going 31-30-9 with a 2.62 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage.
Last season, Wedgewood played 36 games and was 13-14-6 with a 2.74 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
