THUNDER SIGN ROB BORDSON

Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, announced today that they have signed forward Rob Bordson.

Bordson, 27, joins the Thunder after he spent the majority of the last five seasons at the AHL level, including parts of four with the Adirondack Phantoms. Bordson has appeared in 312 games at the AHL level with the Phantoms, Syracuse Crunch, Rochester Americans and Chicago Wolves, where he collected 104 points (41-63-104). Bordson had an AHL career best 12 goals and 25 points during the 2012-13 season with the Phantoms and equaled his points total the following season in 2013-14. Bordson also recorded a career high 15 assists during his most reason campaign, the 2014-15 season with Chicago. Bordson’s 236 games played with the Phantoms is the second most during the team’s five year tenure in Glens Falls.

The Duluth, MN native made a mark in his short ECHL tenure, when he recorded 51 points (17-34-51) in just 38 games with the Trenton Titans in 2011-12. Bordson finished third in the ECHL in points-per-game amongst players with 50 or more points and second on the Titans in overall scoring, despite playing in just over half of the team’s 36 games.

Bordson was originally signed to a two-year entry level contract by the Anaheim Ducks on March 23, 2010 after a three-year career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Bordson has been involved in two trades during his five year career. On November 21, 2010, Bordson, along with defenseman Danny Syvret, was traded to Philadelphia for forwards Patrick Maroon and David Laliberte. On June 23, 2011, Bordson was swapped, along with forward Mike Richards, to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forwards Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn as well as a 2012 second round pick.

Prior to starting his professional career, Bordson skated three years with the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he enjoyed a breakout season as a junior with 22 goals, 40 points and 28 assists, which were the eighth most in the WCHA and second most on the Bulldogs.
