THUNDER UNVEIL PRELIMINARY PROMOTIONAL SCHEDULE AND GROUP TICKET INFORMATION

Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, announced today their preliminary promotional schedule and group ticket plans for their 2015-16 inaugural season, presented by Bud Light.

The Thunder’s 2015-16 home schedule, which consists of 36 home games, will begin on Saturday, October 24, as the Thunder take on the Manchester Monarchs at the Glens Falls Civic Center at 7:00 p.m. Opening Night will feature two giveaways, a magnet schedule and a rally towel, which will commemorate the franchise’s home opener.

The Thunder’s schedule is highlighted by the traditional New Year’s Eve game, featuring indoor fireworks, which will be played on Thursday, December 31, as the Thunder host the Reading Royals. The New Year’s Eve game has been a tradition in Glens Falls dating back to the Adirondack Red Wings, and was successfully presented this past season with the Adirondack Flames, in front of an over capacity crowd of 4,821.

Two new scheduling features include a “School Day Game,” held on Wednesday, November 18 at 10:00 a.m. as the Thunder host the Norfolk Admirals. The “School Day Game” will offer elementary and middle school classrooms from local schools throughout the community the opportunity to spend a day in the area’s largest classroom setting, the Glens Falls Civic Center, as the Thunder offer an educational experience centered on hockey. The Thunder join 17 other teams from the AHL and ECHL which offered a school day game during the 2014-15 season.

The Thunder are also pleased to offer the “Lake Placid Experience”, on Sunday, March 13 against Reading at the historic Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y. with a 7:00 p.m. start time. The Thunder moved the site of this game from the Glens Falls Civic Center to the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid to accommodate the 2016 NYSPHSAA Boys Basketball State Championships. The Thunder are planning a “Lake Placid Experience” to complement their game against Reading, with details to be announced in the near future, including Whiteface skiing, bobsledding, an Olympic Center Tour, transportation and a hotel package.

The Thunder will wear three specialty jerseys during their inaugural season, beginning with Military Appreciation Night, presented by U.A. Local 773 on Saturday, December 12, 2015 as the Thunder host Manchester. The Thunder will also hold Pink in the Rink, presented by Glens Falls Hospital, on Saturday, January 16 against Reading and Autism Awareness Night on Saturday, April 2 against Brampton. Each set of jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds being donated to a charitable organization associated with the cause.

Post-game skates and meet-and-greets with the team, sponsored by Glens Falls Hospital, will also see a return to the Civic Center, on Sunday, November 29, Sunday, February 28 and Sunday, April 3. All three games will face off at 3:00 p.m. and will feature an opportunity to meet the team after the conclusion of the game.

The Thunder will hold a number of giveaways throughout the season, headlined by a Youth Jersey Giveaway, sponsored by Glens Falls Hospital, on Friday, December 4 against Greenville and a Team Picture Giveaway on Sunday, April 3 against Brampton. Additional giveaways will be announced at a later date.

Donation opportunities will return to the Civic Center at Thunder games around the Holidays, as the Thunder will bring back the canned food drive and a coat drive, run in conjunction with the Tri-County United Way and a Teddy Bear Toss, run in partnership with the Salvation Army. The canned food drive will be held on Wednesday, November 25 as the Thunder host Elmira. Anyone who brings a non-perishable food item will receive a complimentary silver flex ticket from the Thunder. The Teddy Bear Toss will be held on Friday, December 11 as the Thunder host Norfolk. All collected stuffed animals will be donated to the local Salvation Army to help provide holiday gifts for less fortunate children. The coat drive will be run at all Thunder home games during the month of November. Beneficiaries of the coat and food drive will be announced at a later date.

Saturday Night is Hockey Night in Glens Falls, presented by Bud Light, will also return with the Thunder on the team’s 10 Saturday home games. Last season with the Adirondack Flames, 18 different bars and restaurants around the Adirondack region participated in the promotion and ran specials prior to Flames home games.

Also returning is “Hockey Weekend Across the Adirondacks” in late February on February 19, 20 and 21 and the Thunder will celebrate the events at their home games the following weekend, February 27 and 28. Details around both weekends will be announced at a later date.

“We hope our preliminary release of promotions will start to build some energy around our slate of 36 home games during our inaugural season,” Adirondack Thunder President Brian Petrovek said. “Our goal is to have a promotion attached to each of our home games which will bring our fans added value beyond the game itself. We plan to take the foundation we created last season with the Flames and improve upon it to create a more memorable and exciting fan experience at the Civic Center.”

Group ticket packages are available beginning today, May 28, for all 2015-16 home games, beginning on Saturday, October 24, as the Thunder host the Manchester Monarchs at the Glens Falls Civic Center at 7:00 p.m. Group plans are available for groups of 10 or more tickets.
