FRANK STECIUK NAMED ADIRONDACK FLAMES LABATT BLUE BUBBLE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS WINNER

Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Flames announced that Frank Steciuk has been crowned as the 2015 Labatt Blue Bubble Hockey Tournament of Champions winner.

The Adirondack Flames team finals were played on Friday, March 27 at the Glens Falls Civic Center in the Davidson’s Pub at the Civic Center in Heritage Hall, as the Flames hosted the Rockford IceHogs. As the winner of the Flames team finals, Steciuk will now advance to compete against seven other team champions in the Labatt Blue Bubble Hockey Tournament Finals, to be held at the Glens Falls Civic Center on April 11, when the Flames host the Lake Erie Monsters.

The Flames tournament, sponsored by Labatt Blue and Saratoga Eagle, has been ongoing throughout the Adirondacks since January, 2015, with qualifying tournaments at eight local bars and restaurants, with each winner qualifying for the finals. Steciuk, the winner of the Davidson Brothers qualifier qualified for the finals by winning his local qualifying tournament.

After the eight player tournament and a rousing championship game between Steciuk and runner-up Mario Passanisi, Steciuk was named the winner, courtesy of his 4-3 overtime victory. Passanisi mounted a spirited effort, as he generated a 3-1 lead, but Steciuk came from behind with two third period goals and eventually the overtime winner to seal the deal.

The Labatt Blue AHL Bubble Hockey Tournament of Champions is now in its fourth season. The AHL finals have been previously hosted in Hershey, Albany and Utica, before coming to Glens Falls this season. The winner of each regional tournament has received two tickets to the Flames’ game on April 11, in addition to hotel accommodations in Glens Falls and a $100 gas card. The winner of the league wide tournament on April 11 will receive a new Super Chexx Bubble Hockey game.
