Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Flames were defeated 2-1 by the Hamilton Bulldogs at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Wednesday evening.
The Flames lone goal, scored by Ben Hanowski, was his second in back-to-back games. Hanowski has now scored three goals in the past four games. Brad Thiessen made 24 saves on 26 shots in defeat.
The Flames and Bulldogs got out to a slow start in the game’s opening period. After back and forth skating for more than half the period, Hamilton struck first. Following a scrum at the net, T.J. Hensick was able to beat Thiessen on a quick shot close to the net 15 minutes into the period. Eric Tangradi and Bryan Allen recorded assists on the play.
Adirondack responded to the deficit quickly when Hanowski took his own rebound and banged it past Mike Condon to knot the game at one with just over two minutes left in the period. It was Hanowski’s second goal in as many games. Tyler Wotherspoon recorded the primary assist as he broke a seven-game scoring drought, and John Ramage received the secondary assist, his second point in two games.
The two teams skated to a scoreless second period, with neither team able to find the back of the net. The Flames held a 12-8 advantage in shots on goal but were unable to defeat Hamilton netminder Condon.
The same pattern continued in the third period, with both teams unable to cash in until halfway through the period. The Bulldogs put the dagger in the game when Jake Dowell was able to take a quick pass from Nick Sorkin and beat Thiessen for the game-winning goal. The Flames had three power play opportunities in the final period but were unable to solve the Mike Condon puzzle.
The Flames are back in action this weekend. Adirondack has a Friday evening rematch with the Rockford Icehogs with start time slated for 7:00 p.m. Adirondack also hosts the Oklahoma City Barons on Saturday, with start time slated for 7:00 p.m. as well.
