SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Tampa Bay Lightning have assigned goaltender Nicola Riopel to the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
Riopel, 6-foot, 185 pounds, dressed in one preseason game with the Lightning, September 19 versus Carolina, backing up Michael Leighton. He played in 32 games with Kalamazoo of the ECHL last season, posting an 18-12-1 record with a .899 save percentage and a 3.13 goals-against average.
The Thunder will hit the ice again in October as they kick off the 2017-18 ECHL season, their third as a member of the league. Season tickets are on sale now at $13 per ticket. Call 518-480-3355 x1 or visit for more information.

About the Thunder

The Adirondack Thunder are the proud members of the ECHL and will begin their 2017-18 season on October 14, 2017 at Cool Insuring Arena. The Thunder enter their third season of ECHL play, following two consecutive playoff berths, including reaching second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs in 2016, the first time since 1994 that an Adirondack team won a playoff series.
