KEN APPLEBY BECOMES SECOND ADIRONDACK THUNDER ALUM TO PLAY IN NHL

01/20/2018 1:01 PM -
Glens Falls, NY – Goaltender Ken Appleby became the second Adirondack Thunder alum to play in an NHL game as he made his NHL debut this afternoon with the New Jersey Devils against the Philadelphia Flyers. Appleby is also the first player with multiple games played in Adirondack to go on to appear in an NHL game.

Appleby, 22, earned his third career NHL recall yesterday and entered today’s game in relief of goaltender Keith Kinkaid in the first period. Appleby appeared in 35 regular season games and 12 playoff contests with the Thunder from 2015-2016. The 6-4 netminder led the Thunder with a 17-9-2 record during the 2015-16 season, in addition to a 7-5 record in post-season play as the Thunder advanced to Round 2 of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. In his career with Adirondack, Appleby has posted a 2.08 goals against average, to go along with a .926 save percentage. The North Bay, ONT native has spent the majority of the past two seasons in the AHL with Albany and Binghamton.

The Thunder are idle for the remainder of the weekend before they host the Florida Everblades for three games next week. The UNO’s Pizza Four Pack is on sale now for Saturday’s game, with over $200 in value for just $64. Visit ECHLThunder.com/fourpack or call 518-480-3355 x1 to get your UNO’s Four Pack.
