Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Thunder dropped Game 4 by a 2-1 margin to the Manchester Monarchs on Thursday evening at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The Thunder now sit in a 3-1 series deficit against Manchester and face a must-win scenario in Saturday’s Game 5.
Less than five minutes into the game, Manchester opened the scoring with a power-play goal from Ashton Rome, his second of the series. Positioned at the point, defenseman Thomas Schemitsch, playing in his first career professional playoff game, fired a shot towards the net that got a double deflection that was touched last by Rome on its way in for the game’s first goal. Schemitsch and forward Matt Leitner and collected the helpers on the play, the third of the playoffs for Leitner.
Adirondack struck next in the latter half of the first period to knot the score at one. Forward Greg Wolfe led the rush into the offensive end and fed a trailing Kevin Lough at the point. Lough one-timed the puck and Cullen Bradshaw, cutting to the net, redirected the shot past Manchester netminder Sam Brittain for his first career Kelly Cup Playoff goal. Lough and Wolfe collected the assists on the play, the first point of the postseason for both players.
After a scoreless middle stanza, the Monarchs regained its lead early in the third period as Zac Lynch scored his first goal of the postseason. With the puck deep in their defensive zone, the Thunder turned the puck over in front of their own net where Lynch capitalized with a goal from the left-hand circle. Lynch's tally was recorded as unassisted.
